Choose languages
Which of the 23 languages to start with, which 2 are in your free preview, how to add more later, and what credits mean on Indie and Pro.
HelloPack translates your captions into any of 23 languages. Your English screenshots are treated as the original.
Steps
-
Pick your languages. On the languages step, tick the languages you want. Popular 10 ticks German, French, Spanish (Spain), Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified), Russian and Turkish. All 23 ticks every language, and Clear unticks them all.
-
Know which 2 are free. The first 2 languages you tick are rendered in your free preview. The box at the bottom tells you which ones. If you pick only 2, the preview is all you need, and it's free.
-
Compare your preview languages. Pick one language that's close to English and one with a different script, such as German and Japanese. You'll see how long text and a different script both look before you pay.
-
Add more languages later. On your preview page, open Change languages, tick more under Want more languages? and choose Add … languages and continue to pay. Same screenshots, no new upload.
Which markets to start with
- Start with Popular 10. It's a good first set of large app markets, and you can add more any time.
- Go where your users already are. Check your App Store Connect and Play Console stats for the countries that already download your app, and translate for those first.
- Japanese, Korean and Chinese are large markets with their own scripts, so an English-only page stands out there.
- Spanish and Portuguese come in two flavours. Spanish (Mexico) suits Latin America and Spanish (Spain) suits Spain. Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal) work the same way.
- Arabic and Hebrew read right to left. HelloPack lays those captions out right to left for you.
Tip: Write your captions in English. English isn't offered as a target language in the form yet.
What credits mean
Credits only matter on the Indie and Pro plans. The Launch Kit and free previews don't use credits.
- Credits = screenshots × languages, weighted. Each screenshot costs 0.1 credits per language for most languages, and 2.5 credits for Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi and Thai, because those get an extra native review.
- Example: 5 screenshots in German, French, Spanish (Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil) and Japanese is 5 × (4 × 0.1 + 2.5) = 14.5 credits.
- A full set of 10 screenshots in all 23 languages is 215 credits.
- Indie has 1,300 credits a month (about 6 full sets) and Pro has 2,600 (about 12 full sets).
- Credits renew each month from the day you subscribe. Your account page shows how many you've used and when they renew.
